BoardsMD - Privacy Policy

Welcome to BoardsMD!  This Privacy Policy describes our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of information about you in connection with your use of BoardsMD, our websites and mobile application (collectively, the “Website”) and purchase, enrollment in and use of our products and services (“Programs”). The terms "we", "us", and “BoardsMD” refer to Hochman Medical Education, LLC, d/b/a BoardsMD. When you use the Website, you (“you” or “your”) consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy.

What information do we collect?

We collect information in a few different ways:

1. When you give it to us or give us permission to obtain it - When you sign up for an account, enroll in a Program, or use the Website, you voluntarily give us certain information. This can include the following:

  • Your username, password and e-mail address when you register for an account with us.
  • Profile information that you provide for your user profile, including your first and last name and other information about you.
  • Content, including comments, and other materials that you may post on or through the Website.
  • Communications between you and BoardsMD. For example, we may send you Website-related emails (e.g., account verification, changes/updates to the Website, technical and security notices).

2. We collect technical information when you use the Website - Each time you use the Website, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Log data. When you use the Website, our servers automatically record information (“log data”), including information that your browser sends whenever you visit a website or your mobile app sends when you are using it. This log data may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and settings, the date and time of your request, how you used BoardsMD, and cookie data.

Depending on how you are accessing the Website, we may use “cookies” (a small text file sent by your computer each time you visit our website, unique to your BoardsMD account or your browser) or similar technologies to record log data. We use Google Analytics to collect information about traffic to our Website and how users use our Website and services. The information gathered does not identify any individual visitor. The information is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It includes the number of visitors to our website, the websites that referred them to our website, the pages that they visited on our Website, what time of day they visited our website, whether they have visited our website before, and other similar information. We use this information to help operate our website more efficiently, to gather broad demographic information and to monitor the level of activity on our website. How do we use the information we collect?

We use the information we collect to provide the Website to you and to make it better, develop new services, and protect BoardsMD and our users. We also use the information we collect to:

  • customize and personalize your learning experience for you;
  • administer, improve, and support the Website and our services;

What choices do you have about your information?

If you have an account with us, you may close your account at any time. When you close your account, we will deactivate it. However, some of your content (such as posts) may remain available to the public. We may retain copies of your content or information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes.

How and when do we share information?

1. Information you post. We make available the content and other information you post to anyone accessing your account. We may also make certain information about you available to visitors to your account, such as name or contact information you provide to us.

2. With Certain Vendors. We may employ trusted third party companies or individuals to process personal information on our behalf based on our instructions and in compliance with this Privacy Policy. For example, we may share data with a security consultant to help us get better at identifying spam. In addition, third party providers may collect some of the information we request on our behalf. These third parties are not authorized by us to use your personal information except in connection with providing services to us.

3. Legal Matters. We may share information if we believe that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the safety, rights, or property of the public, any person, or BoardsMD; or to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues.

4. Business Events. We may share information if we engage in a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, dissolution, reorganization, or similar transaction or proceeding that involves the transfer of the information described in this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long do we keep the data we collect?

We will retain your data for a commercially reasonable period of time for backup, archival, audit or other business purposes. Other users of BoardsMD may also retain your information, such as content or materials you post or make available through BoardsMD.

Security

We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect the personal information submitted to us, both during transmission and once we receive it. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or via mobile device, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Third Party Privacy Policies

BoardsMD is not responsible for the practices or policies of the websites linked to or from the Website, if any. If you elect to use a link that accesses another party’s website, you will be subject to that website’s practices and policies. Certain functions on BoardsMD may be processed through or provided by third parties, for example payment. Currently, payment will be handled by one of our vendors and is subject to their privacy policies available here and here.

Children’s Information

The Website is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, we will take steps to remove such information and terminate the child's account.

How do we make changes to this policy?

We may change this policy from time to time, and if we do, we will post any changes. If you continue to use BoardsMD after those changes are in effect, you agree to the revised policy. If the changes are significant, we may provide more prominent notice or get your consent as required by law.
